Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven. for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Matt 5: 10-12
And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: Rev 6:9
Like the early church, Dr. Dowie was not immune to persecutions. Even back in Australia there were attempts on his life that would continue in the United States.
This page will cover a number of the persecutions that Dr. Dowie and his church faced.
One of the famous ones was the Riots in Mansfield Ohio from July to November 1900. The following articles were printed in Leaves of Healing vols 7 and 8.
