Shortly before Dr. Dowie's death in 1907, a legal battle was fought over of the the ownership of businesses and properties in Zion City.
Dr. Dowie claimed he was the owner and was challenged by his successor Overseer Wilbur Glenn Voliva.

This was a sad and contencious period in Zion's history.
